You can tell how old a gamer is by how they react when you mention The Secret of Monkey Island. Released nearly twenty years ago, this LucasArts classic introduced gamers to the unlikely pirate hero Guybrush Threepwood. Over the course of this adventure (and a handful of sequels), Guybrush cemented his reputation as one of adventure gaming's most beloved heroes

Telltale Games finally announced that Guybrush and many of our Monkey Island favorites will return in a brand new episodic series, Tales of Monkey Island. In true LucasArts fashion, the new Tales of Monkey Islands opens right in the middle of the action. The dread pirate LeChuck has kidnapped Elaine and Guybrush comes swinging in to the rescue. Elaine gives Guybrush the instructions to create a magical enchanted cutlass that will defeat LeChuck but, as usual, Guy manages to screw things up and has to improvise. Unfortunately, his improvisations go awry and the enchantment winds up scattering the voodoo parts of LeChuck into the world. One place they end up is in Guybrush's hands. Guy loses control of his hands, tosses the cutlass away and explodes the ship and everyone on it.
